Prologue

2012, mixed media, 24" x 36" x 39"

You can look at the outside and miss what's on the inside; likewise, you can get close enough to see what's inside without getting whole picture. Once you are there, you still have to wonder what lies deep within.

Prologue is the story before the story. It's what you think you are going to get, but by its nature it withholds the really good stuff.

You can truly desire something before ever experiencing it.

Event Horizon

2013, steel, plaster, wood, acrylic, rope, variable dimensions

An event horizon is the very point of a black hole in which you cannot escape its pull.

There is a feeling of irresistibility when you have gotten too deep into something. There is a point of no return when passion overcomes logic.

The shape for Event Horizon was inspired by a conceptual void. Consider a 360 degree panoramic photograph - there will still be a point in space that remains hidden from view; the human-sized pivot point from where the photo was taken.

Slow Leak

2013, mixed media, 36' x 36' x 96"

Like lemmings, we march forward in the direction of the person who came before us.

We may deviate a bit, but you still have a kitchen and a table and some chairs. The sunlight creeps through your window as everything around you slowly collects dust.

Fluid will find a way to leak through a crevice; and so we move closer to the end of our story.

Thinking Inside the Box

2013, retired wine barrel, 22" x 22" x 36"

There is a sensuality about the textures and curves that make up a wine barrel. Inside lies a poison that tricks the tongue and calls to the mind to keep drinking.

Across centuries and cultures, the production and consumption of wine has seduced generations.

The reconstructed barrel takes on a new form, akin to a vagina locked behind a chastity belt.

In tact

2013, 3D print, artificial turf, epoxy clay, acrylic, 8" x 9" x 12"

In a lifetime, there are seemingly infinite possible sexual encounters, but only the first of these encounters hold the cherry.

A computer was used to produce the stairway, creating an uncountable number of steps - the smallest being measured in microns.

The entire sculpture, on its triangular base of grass, has been painted white; a symbol of purity.
