This collection of work spans the last seven years and is a chronicle of my decision to follow my lifelong dream of creating art. I remember being six years old, my mother raised Chows. I made a drawing of her favorite dog, Dash. When I was finished, I ran out to the back patio, where my mom was brushing one of the dogs, to show her the finished artwork. "You can call the museum now mom!" I shouted. My poor mother wasn't sure what to say. She tried to explain that the museum was not going to display my drawing, but I was positive that they would. Here I am, twenty-four years later, under the same illusions of grandeur, certain that my work is destined to hang in a museum.... Time will tell.

This spring I won a scholarship for two pieces that I entered in an annual awards show. Thank you to my family and friends who were there to support me. Special thanks to the faculty at Sacramento State who have pushed me to grow as an artist and craftsman.

Above all else, I would like to recognize my son, Bryan, for being so patient. Bryan sat for me during a series of drawings. He did it "in the name of art". It paid off this year, Bryan was accepted to Natomas Charter, a fairly exclusive high school centered around art programs. Congratulations son...
