Phillip painting in the studio

A native of California, Phillip has travelled the globe, crafting work that evokes a sense of something bigger taking place beneath the surface. Inspired by the grandeur of the world and the boundless depths of imagination, Phillip ceaselessly dreams without constraints, striving to illuminate the magic that exists within the ordinary.

A colleague once coined his work a “re-enchantment of the everyday.”

Embracing the challenge of representing the unseen magic in a tactile world, Phillip's work exudes a dreamy quality that transcends mere visual abstraction. Instead, he harnesses abstract concepts to provoke contemplation, encouraging viewers to delve deeper into the mysteries behind the objects and places that they would otherwise take for granted.

Central to Phillip’s artistic vocabulary are everyday artifacts that are often dismissed as a blemish on the landscape: discarded cups that are intended for single use, cardboard delivery boxes, fast food waste, and shoes that have been thrown over utility wires. Through his lens, these seemingly banal objects are elevated to symbols of life's transient beauty, inviting viewers to ponder the untold stories they harbor, their life beyond the intended purpose.

More than mere observers, viewers are invited to become storytellers, prompted to imagine the tales behind each depicted moment. In Phillip's world, curiosity is the key, unlocking a realm where the ordinary transforms into the extraordinary, and the mundane becomes a canvas for boundless exploration.

In Phillip's art, the everyday is not merely observed but celebrated—an invitation to rediscover the magic hidden in plain sight and to embark on a journey of endless fascination and wonder.
